Library Corner June 15, 2014

The summer reading programs are in full swing.  If you haven’t signed up for one of our programs it is still not too late to participate.  We are reading all summer long.  Check out our webpage to sign up for a program and get started reading.  This is week two for our children’s program sessions and there is still room available in some of our sessions.  It is a summer of reading, science experiments, crafts and much, much more.

Scott’s Bike Shop will be having a demonstration on biking that will be fun for the entire family on June 17th at 3 until 4 p.m. in the library parking annex lot.  Employees will be discussing and demonstrating things like thread, resistance, figure eights, gravity and balance. Be sure to park in the main library parking and carefully walk across the street.

Our Wednesday Matinee on June 18th at 2 p.m. will be the Lego Movie, rated PG.  Join us for the movie and stay afterwards to play board games for an afternoon of fun until 5:30 p.m.

Have you always wanted to see what goes on behind closed doors of the library?  Join us June 19th at 4 p.m. in the lobby for a Behind the scenes Tour with our director.  There is no reservation needed, just meet in the lobby for this 45 minute tour.

The Friends of the Library Association, FOLA, will host their Book and Coffee series June 20th at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m.  FOLA member, Ann Cherry will review LBJ: The Mastermind of the JFK Assassination by Philip I. Nelson. This free event is open to the public and FOLA provides the coffee.
