Library Corner, July 6, 2014
The Friends of the Library Association, FOLA, has announced that New York Time’s Best Selling Author, Karen White, will be their guest speaker at their Annual Fall Luncheon on September 25th at the Cleveland Country Club.
White writes what she refers to as ‘grit lit’ – southern women’s fiction – and has also expanded her horizons into writing a bestselling mystery series set in Charleston, South Carolina. Her first book, In the Shadow of the Moon, was published in August, 2000. This book was nominated for the prestigious RITA award in 2001 in two separate categories. She has twice won the National Readers’ Choice Award for Learning to Breathe and On Folly Beach.
More information on FOLA’s luncheon and Merchant’s Alley will be forthcoming. This month’s Book & Coffee Review held at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m. will review one of White’s recent novels, The Time Between. Meg Campbell, FOLA president will be the reviewer. As always, FOLA provides the coffee.
